Wrap up Conference, Charlemagne, 10th November, 2011

On 10 November, 2011, the European Union External Action Service and the European Commission's Service for Foreign Policy Instruments are organising a conference which will bring the policy makers from the European institutions, Member States and the US Mission to the EU with the representatives of the second round of projects.  The particular aim of this 2011 event is to explore the opportunities for enhanced transatlantic dialogue in the areas of cooperation covered by the projects.   http://eeas.europa.eu/us/grants/pilot_projects/index_en.htm

 

 

New Book: Transatlantic Regulatory Cooperation

Transatlantic Regulatory Cooperation: The Shifting Roles of the EU, the US and California Edited by David Vogel, University of California, Berkeley, US and Johan F.M. Swinnen, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and the Centre of European Policy Studies (CEPS), Belgium. US Transatlantic Regulatory Cooperation features eleven original essays by leading academics of regulation on both sides of the Atlantic. They explore topics such as the impact of federalism on regulatory policies both within the US and Europe, the transatlantic dynamics of water policy, climate change, pesticide and chemical regulation, and biotechnology.

Atlantic ('Bloomsday') Energy Efficiency Conference

The objective of this final conference is to distil the key findings of our project for global and transatlantic policy, including innovation and employment potential, and finance (Day 1) and for implementation of energy efficiency policy including the European Energy Efficiency Plan 2011 (Day 2).

It is fitting to dedicate this conference to James Joyce, a graduate of University College, Dublin, and resident of Paris. He is the author of Ulysses –the story of Leopold Bloom’s peregrinations which took place 107 years ago in Dublin on June 16 (‘Bloomsday’) 1904.

The first workshop of the Atlantic Energy Efficiency Project took place at the Centre for European Policy Studies,  Brussels on September 23rd 2010.  An invited audience of over 50 experts, policy specialists and industry personnel participated in the lively workshop which featured presentations and panel feedback from European Commission policy officers and international experts in the field of energy efficiency and policy.
